Hey all,
I have not written in a while, I am sorry. I have been in London all summer working with Brentford FC, a soccer club in West London. It was a blast and I learned a lot. I wanted to go through a few highlights to give yall a sense of what I have been doing. It may be a bit rushed as I have to depart for Ukrain tomorrow morning. After Ukraine for a week, I head to Berlin for a weekend music festival, then off to Italy with a buddy from San Diego to stay on the beach for ten days. So here is the run-down:
- Arsenal and Chelsea - I was fortunate enough to see Arsenal and Chelseas last home games of the season. Chelsea won with ease 3-1 and Arsenal won 4-1. Both great games and great results
- Weekend Trips - Rome and Scotland were two trips I was able to take on the weekends. Rome was amazing, so old. There are so many hot spots to see, all in one city. I went to Scotland with my mother, Edinburgh, to be exact. It is an old city with a castle. Very relaxed. It was great to be with my mom too!
- Concerts - I mentioned that I am going to a music fest in two weekends, however I have seen a few shows. I saw Cold War Kids (amazing show, met them after which is so awesome), Blind Pilot and Akron Family (two bands that are amazing), The Hard Rock Calling Festival which included Bruce Springsteen (3 hour show... so amazing), Dave Matthews Band (very good), Ben Harper, Fleet Foxes, and others. The most impressive from that festival was Mumford and Sons. Here is one of their videos (20 clarence ave london barnesbury house), hope you enjoy. That about concludes my concert experience.
- The sites of London (Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, The London Eye, The multiple museums... etc).
This is an amazing city with a lot to do. And I have had the time of my life. But I dont think I would have if it werent for the people I have met throughout the trip. As cliche as it sounds it truly does make all the difference. If you are a student and are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take a study abroad or intern abroad trip I would definitely do it. It will change your life.
Anyway, enough ramblin' for me. I will update everyone when I get back to the states. We have a big soccer season coming up (The IUPUI Men's Soccer Team). Here is a link to the schedule, it would be awesome if everyone could make it out for a game!!!http://iupuijags.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc& Free for students!
